If you've connected wired headphones through a composite cable, you will need to adjust the PS3's audio output settings. From the main "Settings" menu, navigate to "Sound Settings" and then "Audio Output Settings." Change the audio input connector from "HDMI" to "AV MULTI OUT" and confirm your settings. Audio should now route to your headphones.
My understanding is that you can run OtherOS++ (the OtherOS hack) on the slim models but normal distros like Fedora or Debian still won't install (somebody plz correct me if I'm wrong). Either way you will need a PS3 that will accept custom firmware. If running OtherOS++ your only Linux options are T2 and Red Ribbon (again, correct me if wrong).
So I got a PS3 super slim recently from my brother and it has an issue where you have to press the power button multiple times to turn it on and that's most likely a contact issue due to previous experiences with this issue.

Diode on its way out, maybe you could solder a new one on but guessing its incredibly small and difficult, just watched a super slim tear down on youtube and it appears that the diodes are on a tiny little board connected by a ribbon so you could possibly change it if you find a part. 4.
Yes you can without a stand. Unless there's a risk of it being toppled over (pets, your own fault, earthquakes, etc.), it'll be fine on its side. 1. lolninja481. • 11 yr. ago. I use my slim ps3 and 360 as bookends. Neither have had problems reading discs.
As you can see, you cannot install a custom jailbroken firmware on PS3 Slim 3XXX and PS3 Super Slim 4XXX versions. That said, you can still use Homebrew software on these latter models with PS3HEN.
